Childhood Cancer Awareness Month Hits Home
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, and on September 3rd, the youngest of the Dowd family, 22 month old Claire, was diagnosed with stage 2 liver cancer. While rare (only 1% of pediatric cancer cases are hepatoblastomas), Claire is fortunate that her cancer is known to be responsive to chemo and has a relativity short treatment period. Many kiddos are not so lucky. Claire’s family is raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to help the children and families who are not so fortunate. You can join us in this fundraiser by joining Team Claire Bear and participating in St. Jude’s virtual run/walk on September 26th or by making a donation to help further childhood cancer research. If you would like to make a donation to a local organization, Superhero Kids does amazing work for the patients and families at Dell Children’s Blood and Cancer Center. Thank you for all the love, prayers and support as we fight this battle with Claire. Claire is a tough, and she’s going to kick cancer’s butt!
